Suryadatta Organises Week-Long Activities to Mark 80 Years of Independence

Pune: Suryadatta Education Foundation has organised a week-long series of cultural, educational, sports and social activities from August 14 to 21, 2026, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of India’s Independence. Based on the theme ‘Unity, Harmony and National Pride’, the initiative aims to instil patriotism, social responsibility and nation-building values among students. The programmes are being conducted under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Sanjay B. Chordiya, Founder President, Suryadatta Education Foundation, and the leadership of Mrs. Sushama Chordiya, Vice President and Secretary.

A major highlight of the celebrations will be the felicitation of 15 Veer Naris, wives of brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in service of the nation, with the ‘Veer Nari Samman’. The Independence Day programme on August 15 will also feature flag hoisting in the presence of Colonel Pal, along with the ‘Surya Chakra Awards’ for eminent personalities who have made notable contributions in different fields. A patriotic fashion show and theatrical presentation showcasing India’s rich heritage and valour will also be organised. Traditional handicrafts and indigenous products will be promoted through an exhibition under the initiatives of ‘Vocal for Local’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’, while fitness activities will be held under the ‘Fit India’ initiative.

The celebrations will further bring students together through programmes inspired by ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’, including folk dances representing different states, group singing, patriotic music and Indian food stalls. Students will participate in essay and poster competitions, street plays, a book exhibition and panel discussions. Lectures on de-addiction, social pledges and visits to gaushalas and orphanages will add a strong social dimension to the initiative, connecting students with the values of service, compassion and responsible citizenship.

Prof. Dr. Sanjay B. Chordiya said, “Independence Day should not remain limited to flag hoisting and the national anthem. It is important to nurture the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ in the thoughts and actions of every student. Suryadatta is committed to providing quality education while shaping students into responsible, aware and patriotic citizens.”

Mrs. Sushama Chordiya said, “As India celebrates 80 years of Independence, nurturing patriotism, social responsibility and a spirit of service among students is the need of the hour. Through the honouring of Veer Naris and various activities, Suryadatta aims to bring the inspiration of the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters and soldiers closer to the younger generation. A capable, value-driven and responsible youth will be the true strength of a developed India.”
