Protest Democratically, But Respect the Nation: Yashwant Bhosale

Pimpri, October 18: Criticising government policies and holding peaceful protests are democratic rights, but the dignity of the nation and constitutional offices must also be respected, said Yashwantbhau Bhosale, president of the Rashtriya Shramik Aghadi and labour leader.

40 Years in Social Movements

Speaking at a press conference in Sant Tukaram Nagar, Pimpri, Bhosale said he had been associated with social and labour movements for the past 40 years. He said political criticism should be constructive and should not include abusive personal remarks against the Prime Minister or Union Home Minister.

Comment on Protests

Referring to YouTuber Dhruv Rathee’s participation in protests, Bhosale alleged that such actions could affect India’s image internationally. He recalled the sacrifices of freedom fighters and urged citizens to respect the country’s history and legacy.

Electoral Roll Revision

Bhosale also spoke about the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. He said accurate voter lists were essential for a strong democracy and expressed confidence that eligible Indian citizens would not face injustice during the process.

Appeal for Responsible Dissent

He emphasised that democratic dissent must be exercised responsibly, keeping national interest and constitutional values in mind.

Nandu Appa Kadam, Mahendra Baviskar, Mangesh Dhadge and Dinesh Patil were present at the press conference.

Quote: “Everyone has the right to protest and question government policies, but the nation’s dignity and constitutional offices must be respected,” said Yashwantbhau Bhosale.
